I have collaborated with Catherine Dineley, photographer and head of lens media technical services at Staffordshire university since 2010.
She has an amazing insight into the narrative of my work when I am creating pieces for shoots, enabling us to locate and present the work, to capture essence of the storytelling.
Working together we can explore light, studio and location possibilities, pose and poise of the models, and all the potential that she can bring to pull the work together. Conversations start whilst the work is under construction, offering reference points, and inspired suggestions to develop the collections.
The designs develop thematically, processes emerging from the research to involve print – devoree, discharge printing, screen printing, hand dying methods, and a wide range of embellishment techniques.
The outcomes of the collections range from exhibition and concept work to samples for the commercial industry.
